Rev. Ruth brings to All Saints a long career as a teacher, chaplain, and priest. After being called to serve as the chaplain of the day school at St. Francis, Potomac, MD, she was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate in 1999 in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and to the Holy Order of Priests in 2000 at St. Francis. During her time there, she developed the curriculum for the Christian Studies program for children age two through fifth grade as well as periodically preaching, celebrating, and facilitating several spiritual direction groups for parishioners.
When the day school became a part of St. Andrew’s School in 2008, she retired and continued ministry at the other end of the lifespan as hospice chaplain at Greenspring CCRC in Springfield, VA. In 2011, she was called to the nearby historic Pohick Church in Lorton, VA, as Assistant to the Rector and transferred her canonical residency to the Diocese of Virginia. Her second retirement began at the end of 2017.
For over a decade she has been convening a weekly clergy Bible study at Greenspring. In retirement, she has focused on a soon to be produced book about Bible stories for adults. Rev. Ruth joins All Saints about once a month, mostly on Sundays to preach, teach, and visit with parishioners.
