Serving LITTLE LIGHTS in Time of Need
The pandemic and subsequent closures and distancing efforts have exacerbated the already stressful experience of poverty for families living in DC public housing. The few resources that families could count on have suddenly disappeared or become harder to obtain: school lunches, classroom instruction, after care, jobs and paychecks, cleaning supplies and toiletries, and access to spaces with reliable internet.
In the face of this crisis, Little Lights has pivoted to providing critical emergency supplies, including non-perishable food, household goods, and educational items to youth, families, and adults at Potomac Gardens (Ward 6), Hopkins (Ward 6), and Benning Terrace (Ward 7) public housing. Little Lights is implementing safety protocols to minimize potential hazards regarding storage and distribution of goods to our residents.
3 Easy Steps to help families in need through Little Lights
- When you shop for yourself/your family, consider shopping for one or more of the following: cleaning supplies, soap, lotion, gloves, paper products, diapers, and non-perishable food items (such as mac & cheese, PB & J, pasta & sauce, snacks, etc.) If you are able, feel free to even provide enough to sustain a family of 4 for one week!
- Pause to say a prayer for Little Lights and the families they are serving. Perhaps even include a note or a card to let a family know that you are from All Saints Church and that you are praying for them.
- Drop off your donations at the church, Monday – Friday, between 11 am – 1 pm. JUST LEAVE ON THE BENCH AT OLIVER STREET AND WE WILL COLLECT. Please – No later than 1 pm!
