Gary Wieder, Family Pastor
Gary was born near the wintry city of Buffalo, NY with his parents, two older brothers and younger sister. He attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, where he majored in Biblical Studies and minored in Youth Ministry. During his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years, he started his youth ministry career with a great organization known as “Young Life.” He spent a brief 12 months directly after graduating living and working near Annapolis, MD where he got his first taste of this great area. Since those simple, carefree days, Gary has worked with inner-city students in the east side of Pittsburgh; directed a large staff, volunteer leadership team and 6th—12th grade students in northwest Atlanta; and created a community-wide student ministry program in Pawleys Island, SC, before landing with his family in Chevy Chase, with many years of experience behind him.
Gary has been married for 22+ lucky years to his much more attractive and intelligent wife, Julie. They have four energetic children: Brendan, Cecelia, Teddy, and Ryan. He likes a good steak, Italian food, the Buffalo Bills, the Pittsburgh Penguins (sorry!), and laughing with family and friends. Gary is excited to use all the lessons he has learned over the past 30+ years of ministry and hopefully some wisdom in supporting the families in our community to raise spiritually healthy and connected families.
Gary Wieder shepherds All Saints’ families and leads the Family Table worship service. He oversees all Sunday school and youth activities for parishioners in grade 5 through college. Gary regularly disciples individuals and provides pre-marital counseling. He oversees the Family Forum, a Sunday morning Christian education class, and is responsible for the bi-annual all-parish retreat. He also oversees both the Dominican Republic and Pittsburgh Project mission trips.
