The Rev. Dr. William J. (BJ) Buracker II, Associate Rector

Fr. BJ was born locally in Olney, Maryland, but moved to the Pinehurst area of North Carolina in 1995 when he was 16. There, he attended Sandhills Presbyterian Church. While studying at North Carolina State University, that church hired him to serve as a summer youth intern to teach Bible Studies, lead mission trips, and plan outreach events. After completing both a Bachelor of Science and an Masters of Science in math at NC State, Sandhills Presbyterian hired him as the “part-time” youth director for five years and funded him to attend seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Fr. BJ was introduced to the Anglican Communion. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2007.

As he was finishing his seminary studies, Fr. BJ began dating Kimberly Boulton, and they were married in December 2006. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where Kimberly taught math and Fr. BJ began working on a Masters of Theology in Biblical Studies. In 2008, they moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland. Until they had children, Kimberly taught math and science at Connelly School of the Holy Child, while Fr. BJ pursued a PhD at Catholic University, which he completed in 2017. His research interest is minor characters of the Old Testament.

Due to the beauty of the liturgy, the rich theological history and tradition, and the sacramental emphasis of the Anglican Communion, Fr. BJ and Kimberly looked for an Anglican Church in the area and felt called to join All Saints after hearing a sermon by the Rev. Alex Large. They were confirmed by the late Bishop Salmon in 2015 and have served in many capacities at All Saints.

BJ taught a variety of introductory theology courses at Catholic University, helped create their academic coaching program, and served as the Associate Dean of their Metropolitan School of Professional Studies, which specializes in serving adult learners.

He and Kimberly have four daughters – Hannah (12), Eilidh (10), Mary Esther (7), and Stacey (1) – and one son — J.T. (5).  Kimberly works at home and teaches the kids in a home-school coop in Germantown. Fr. BJ and Kimberly love hosting events, especially when it involves good food and nerdy board games.

Fr. BJ was ordained to the priesthood on March 9, 2019. In addition to assisting the Rector in leading worship, administering sacraments, preaching, and teaching, Fr. BJ’s area of supervision is over pastor care, including oversight of the visiting ministry team and the prayer and healing ministries. BJ also administrates the welcoming and greeter ministry and missions and outreach.
