Help Make Dreams Come True in Rwanda!
All Saints Church has partnered with Bishop Deo in Kigali for several years now, supporting the feeding program that provides meals to children who live in extreme poverty. In addition to meals, these children long for an education. Schooling in Rwanda is not free, and sadly, many of the children in the feeding program have had to forfeit a chance to an education – something that will enable them to dream big and dream often! This is where YOU step in. Please prayerfully consider sponsoring these children so that they can grow to be leaders and doers in Rwanda!
For more information about sponsoring a child through All Saints, please email Shireen David, Director of Mission & Outreach.
I want to sponsor a child, what do I do?
- Email Shireen with the name and ID code of the child/children
- Wait for Shireen to respond with additional information, as well as an introduction to our partner in Rwanda who manages the program -Association for Children’s Assistance (ACA)
Is there a time period for sponsorship?
- Yes! The initial commitment is for at least one year, and the hope is that the sponsor will want to continue so that the child can complete their education
- There will be an annual assessment and opportunity to renew the relationship with the child.
Who is managing this program?
- All Saints Church in partnership with ACA (an extension of our long-term partnership with Bishop Deo in Rwanda) On our end, the sponsorship funds that come in will be recorded/tracked per student, and All Saints will wire the funds to Rwanda. ACA will be tracking funds on their end and will reconcile our records quarterly.
- Please make payments online through the “Giving” link on the church website and choose “Rwandan Sponsorship” from the drop-down menu. OR if you choose to write a check, please make it out to “All Saints Church” and in the memo line: Rwandan Sponsorship.
- Association for Children Assistance (ACA) The ACA was founded in 2006 by then Pastor Deo Gashagaza and his wife, Christine, and strives to rebuild Rwanda by supporting, inspiring, and teaching Rwanda’s youngest generations.
The program now serves approx. 100+ children and youth living in extreme poverty on the streets of Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali. The ACA exists to meet practical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs of these marginalized young people. They believe that all these aspects of life are connected and are vital to the well-being of the individual. The ACA also believes that the well-being of Rwanda’s youngest population shapes the future of this post-genocidal nation in a powerful way.
Public schooling in Rwanda is not free, so the kids benefit from sponsors who help keep them in school. Unfortunately, 60% of sponsors dropped off as a result of hard economic times post-pandemic. The children who lost sponsors have been unable to return to school for some time now.
All Saints Church has supported the feeding program for several years, and now we would like to see these children sponsored so that they can return to school, and for those who are older than school-age kids, sponsorship for them will mean an opportunity to be trained in some vocational skill/industry so that they can find jobs. Education and job training are keys to helping these young people achieve their dreams so that they can break cycles of poverty, and have a chance to a different, brighter future where they can provide for themselves and their families.
Who receives the sponsorship funds?
- ACA will receive the sponsorship funds and will deposit them directly with the school per sponsored child.
- The parents/caregivers will not receive funds. Only the school, and therefore, the child will be the beneficiary of the sponsorship funds.
What does my sponsorship cover?
- Sponsorship funds cover school tuition, which includes books, uniforms, and meals at the school. The ACA staff have been caring for these kids and their families for a long time, so that will continue to do so – this includes monthly check-ins and reports on the child’s progress, providing basic healthcare for the child, Bible study, and mental/emotional healthcare. As well as training for the parents/caregivers at home in the areas of hygiene, anti-child abuse, HIV/AIDS, domestic /gender-based violence etc.
